September 26, 2017 – SacRT Police Services to Hold Emergency Drill at 7th; Richards/Township 9 Light Rail Station

What: Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) Police Services will perform an emergency drill on Saturday, September 30. The exercise will simulate a derailment caused by an object placed on the tracks by suspected terrorists. An additional complication, requiring urgency and expertise, is the rescue of a person trapped under the train who will be safely extracted once SacRT Facilities Maintenance staff lifts the train back on the tracks. Funding for the drill is provided by a Transit Security Grant Program.

Access to the station will be limited, and this event is not open to the public. The Green Line, which serves the 7th & Richards/Township 9 Station, does not operate on weekends.

When: Saturday, September 30, 2017, 8 a.m. – noon
Best time for media viewing is between 9:15 a.m. – 10 a.m.

Where: 7th &Richards/Township 9 Light Rail Station
Access will be off of 7th Street and Richards Boulevard – West end of the station platform.
