SACRAMENTO, CA – In honor of those who have served our country, Sacramento Regional Transit District (Sac RT) is inviting military service men and women to ride Sac RT free on Memorial Day.
“We are pleased to be able to show our appreciation of the men and women who have served our country,” said Andy Morin, RT Board Chair. “A Free Ride Day for military personnel, both active and reserve, is just a small token of appreciation, but one we are pleased to offer.”
While free rides will be extended to veterans, active military and reservists, Sac RT has decided to also offer the complimentary service to military family members as a way to thank all those who have sacrificed for our country.
“We chose to include family members in this special Free Ride Day, because they often sacrifice the most when a loved one is deployed,” said Henry Li, Sac RT General Manager/CEO. “We are called to remember those who sacrificed their lives for our country on Memorial Day, but we should also remember their loved ones who made difficult sacrifices at home.”
To ride free on Monday, May 29, 2017, active military must show their Active Military Access Card (CAC). Retired military and family members are asked to present their Uniformed Service Identification Card.
