  • Educate the Community about streetcars, the types of streetcars are used for transit and the various ways streetcars may be best used in a community (tourism, commute, economic development, etc).
     
  • Present the hurdles, opportunities and benefits that have been experienced in other jurisdictions.
     
  • Discuss some of the elements of streetcar system construction (vehicle types, construction of guideways, stations, etc).
     
  • Present information regarding redevelopment benefits that have been experienced in other cities.
     
  • Discuss funding options (federal, public/private and volunteers).
     
  • Suggest possible uses of streetcars in our region (Downtown, Old Sacramento, Point West, West Sacramento, Rancho Cordova, Folsom, CSUS, UC Davis Med. Center, etc).

The Sheraton Grand Sacramento, located at 1230 J Street, Sacramento, California, is located in the beautifully restored historic Public Market Building, steps away from the Sacramento Convention Center, and one block from the State Capitol Complex. The Capital Area Streetcar Summit will be held on the Ballroom level of the Hotel.

TRAVEL INFORMATION

Passenger Train Service

Bus Service
Bus service to and from the Sacramento International Airport is available through Yolobus. The one-way fare is $1.50 per person. We recommend that you take Bus 42A from the Sacramento Airport to downtown Sacramento and return to the airport from downtown on Bus 42 B (shortest routes). Shuttle Service
Shuttle Service to and from the Sacramento International Airport is not available. SuperShuttle is the exclusive provider of on-call van service. The costs from the airport to downtown are approximately: Shared Van: $13 for the first person and $8 for each additional person. Private Van: $45 for up to seven people.

Reservations are not required (but advisable) for the trip from the airport to the hotel unless you need a handicapped accessible van. The SuperShuttle booth at the Sacramento airport is located in front of the restaurant building between the two main terminals. Reservations are required for the return trip to the Sacramento International Airport from the downtown area. To make a reservation, call (800) 258-3826.

Taxi
You can locate a taxi in the ground transportation area adjacent to the baggage claim area at Terminal A and across from the airport hotel at Terminal B. One-way between the airport and downtown is approximately $27 for 1 to 4 persons. Call (916) 457-4862 for reservations/information. While at the airport, dial extension 24360 from a white courtesy phone for more information.

Take Interstate 5 South toward Los Angeles. Exit on J Street. The Sheraton is located on the right side of J Street, 1230 J Street.

From San Francisco
Take 80 East towards Sacramento. Merge onto Interstate 5 to Redding. Exit on J Street. The Sheraton is located on the right side of J Street, 1230 J Street
