|
The
mission of Regional Transit Police Services is to provide for all
aspects of Regional Transit's safety and security. We will strive
to do this by providing dedicated, specially trained officers who
will work in partnership with Regional Transit and the community to
define and find solutions to problems which confront those who support,
ride, or operate the trains and buses of Regional Transit. |

|
As
a result of a 1993 peer review, Regional Transit took the commitment
to employee and passenger safety a step further by contracting with
both the Sacramento Police Department and Sheriff's Department to
form the Regional Transit Police Services.
Police
Services current staffing consists of one lieutenant, three sergeants,
22 officers/deputies, 17 transit officers and 50 security guards.
Police Services personnel patrol the system by car, bicycle and
foot, as well as riding the light rail trains and buses.
All
officers receive specialized training in transit related issues
and because they are dedicated to transit policing they are able
to respond to customer needs in a more timely and efficient manner,
thereby raising the level of security on the system.
Regional
Transit Police Services officers participate in training and education
outreach programs to employees and the public.
