Background
Last updated in 1998, RT's Short-Range Transit Plan (SRTP) is the "master plan" for the programming of transit service and operations and outlines future transit system development and the capital projects that are necessary for this development.  The plan documents the ongoing transit development and planning process for an 8-year planning period.  The SRTP describes what currently exists and what is anticipated for RT.  It also provides a blueprint for RT's development over the next several years.

The purpose of this amendment will be to revise the Financial Plan section of the SRTP to extend the plan period for at least three years and update information in  the following areas:
  • Title VI Assessment
  • Operating Statistics
  • Ridership by Route
  • FY 2007 Budget
  • Five Year Capital Plan (FY 2008-2012)
  • RT Vision and Strategic Plan Fleet Management Plan
The adoption of this SRTP amendment will provide RT sufficient time to complete a comprehensive TMP, including short, mid-term and long term transit plans that are both informed by and consistent with the adopted Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) Blueprint and regional MTP.

Starting in 2007, RT will follow-up on the SRTP update and embark on a comprehensive Transit Master Plan update that is intended in both its content and timing to build upon and complement the extensive regional work on land use and transportation planning established through SACOG's Blueprint, regional Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) for 2035 and various long range transit plans being developed with each regional public transit operators.
