SACRAMENTO, CA – The Sacramento Regional Transit District (RT) will offer complimentary passes to residents of the city of Elk Grove attending the Sacramento Kings vs. New Orleans Pelicans game on Sunday, February 12, 2017 – giving fans a chance to ride light rail from the Franklin Station to Golden 1 Center for free.

The City of Elk Grove and RT will have a booth at the Franklin Station from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. distributing glow batons and other fun give-a-ways for Elk Grove residents that show their valid Kings game ticket. Participants will also receive a prize drawing ticket to be turned in at the City of Elk Grove booth located inside the arena (near Section 205) to win a gift donated by the Kings.

“This event presents a great opportunity for Elk Grove fans to take in a Kings game and to try out light rail as an option for traveling downtown either for work or for play at no cost,” said Elk Grove Mayor Steve Ly.

RT’s Blue Line operates to the Cosumnes River College, which is located close to the border of the city of Elk Grove. A 2016 survey by WalletHub.com revealed that Elk Grove is among the fastest growing cities in the country, ranking 11th among medium-size cities in the US.

“With a growing population, Elk Grove residents will find riding RT a fun and easy way to explore and enjoy many areas of Sacramento,” said Henry Li, RT General Manager/CEO. “We welcome the entire city of Elk Grove to ride with us!”

Riding RT to a Kings game is an especially convenient way to get to Golden 1 Center since RT has three stations one block from the arena. Those traveling from Elk Grove can park and board at the Franklin Station (Franklin and Cosumnes River boulevards), and take the Blue Line to the 9th & K Station. After the game, passengers will board the Blue Line at the 7th & Capitol Station to return to Franklin Station. Trains operate every 30 minutes on weekends with additional service operating post game.
