SacRT takes first step towards free parking system-wide

The Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) has great news for commuters who park at the Watt/I-80, Watt/I-80 West and Roseville Road pay-park-and-ride lots. Beginning on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, customers no longer have to pay a fee to park at the three lots.

“Free parking at the park-and-ride lots is just another way SacRT wants to improve the customer experience and make it more convenient to take transit,” said Henry Li, SacRT General Manager/CEO.

Fees are expected to be eliminated at the remaining park-pay-and-ride lots located at Power Inn, Franklin, Meadowview and Florin effective Friday, March 1, 2019, pending SacRT Board approval on Monday, January 14. However, customers using the Cosumnes River College parking structure will continue to be required to pay the daily rate of $2 or $20 per month, since parking is maintained by the college.

As a reminder, SacRT is also offering free rides on light rail on Monday, December 31 for the New Year’s Eve Sky Spectacular in Old Sacramento. Simply present the Free Ride Flyer, which is available at sacrt.com, and ride light rail for free to and from the event.
