SACRAMENTO, CA – Ridership on Sacramento Regional Transit District (RT) during the Golden 1 Center Open House increased by 10 times with ridership at 10,000 rides at the five key downtown stations. The first two opening nights of Golden 1 Center also saw significant increases in ridership.
“The opening of Golden 1 Center gave RT a wonderful opportunity to welcome many new riders who were so positive about their riding experience,” said Henry Li, RT General Manager/CEO. “For 18 months, we have been working to transform RT system-wide and are proud to show residents and visitors to the region how clean, safe and convenient it is to ride.”
On the opening two nights of the arena, RT estimates 3,000 people (6,000 trips) used light rail to the Paul McCartney concerts.
“We want the public to know that RT is for everyone,” said Councilmember Jay Schenirer, RT Board Chair. “It’s one of the best ways to get to Golden 1 Center – arrive stress free, and let us do the driving.”
