Dos Rios Construction

The construction of the Dos Rios Light Rail Station began in November 2024. The station is located on the Blue Line on North 12th Street between Richards Boulevard and Sunbeam Avenue in Sacramento.

Why the Station Hasn’t Opened Yet

Although construction at the station is complete, SacRT is waiting for the testing verification report to be accepted by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) before the station can open for passenger service. Once SacRT receives approval, we will announce the official opening date and begin preparing for service.

Road Closures November 18, 2024
As of Monday, November 18, 2024, Ahern Street and Sproule Avenue are closed. Only local property owners will have access during this two-year closure.

Road Closure Information:

No left turn traffic from North 12th Street to Ahern Street or Sproule Avenue.
No through traffic from Sproule Avenue to North 12th Street or Sunbeam Avenue.
No through traffic from Sunbeam Avenue to Sproule Avenue.

Detour signs will route traffic to North B Street.

November 2024: Ahern Street and Sproule Ave are closed. Only local property owners have access during this two-year closure.
Late 2024 to Early 2025: Retaining wall construction completed at the Loaves and Fishes and Gerber Collision parking lot.
Early November 2025: Light rail service disruption for tie-in work on the new outbound tracks.
March 2026: Light Rail service disruption for tie-in work to the new inbound track.
September 2026: Station construction completed.
September 2026: Station public opening TBD.

Background :

The Dos Rios Station will be part of the Blue Line. In December 2018, the project, along with an associated affordable housing development, received a $23 million Transformative Climate Communities (TCC) Grant from the California Strategic Growth Council. The TCC Program supports projects that deliver major environmental, health, and economic benefits in disadvantaged communities, and the Dos Rios Station aligns with these goals. The SacRT Board of Directors approved funding for this new station on January 8, 2024. In total, the future Dos Rios Station project has secured $42.8 million in funding from state and federal sources. This includes $31.2 million in state funding from programs such as the Transformative Climate Communities (TCC) Program ($17.6 million), the Affordable Housing Sustainable Communities (AHSC) Program ($940,000), Senate Bill 125 (SB125) funds ($10 million), and the Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program (TIRCP) ($2.5 million). Additionally, $11.6 million in federal funding has been secured, including $9.6 million from the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant, $1 million from the FY24 THUD Appropriations Bill through Congressional Directed Spending, and $1,200,313 from other local and federal sources.
