The Dos Rios Station Opens September 28
The new Dos Rios Station is set to open to the public on Monday, September 28, 2026. Located on SacRT’s Blue Line along North 12th Street between Richards Boulevard and Sunbeam Avenue, the new station will provide improved transit access for residents, workers and visitors in Sacramento’s growing River District, including residents of several new affordable housing communities.
With the opening of Dos Rios Station, SacRT’s light rail system now has 53 stations. Located between Globe and Alkali Flat/La Valentina stations, service to Dos Rios runs every 15 minutes during peak hours and 30 minutes early-mornings and evenings.

Dos Rios Construction
The construction of the Dos Rios Light Rail Station began in November 2024. The station is located on the Blue Line on North 12th Street between Richards Boulevard and Sunbeam Avenue in Sacramento.
Construction Timeline
- November 2024: Ahern Street and Sproule Ave are closed. Only local property owners have access during this two-year closure.
- Late 2024 to Early 2025: Retaining wall construction completed at the Loaves and Fishes and Gerber Collision parking lot.
- Early November 2025: Light rail service disruption for tie-in work on the new outbound tracks.
- March 2026: Light Rail service disruption for tie-in work to the new inbound track.
- September 2026: Station construction completed.
- September 28, 2026: Station opened to the public
Background :
The Dos Rios Station is the newest addition to the Blue Line. In December 2018, the project, along with an associated affordable housing development, received a $23 million Transformative Climate Communities (TCC) Grant from the California Strategic Growth Council. The TCC Program supports projects that deliver major environmental, health, and economic benefits in disadvantaged communities, and the Dos Rios Station aligns with these goals. The SacRT Board of Directors approved funding for this new station on January 8, 2024.
In total, the Dos Rios Station project secured $42.8 million in funding from state and federal sources. This includes $31.2 million in state funding from programs such as the Transformative Climate Communities (TCC) Program ($17.6 million), the Affordable Housing Sustainable Communities (AHSC) Program ($940,000), Senate Bill 125 (SB125) funds ($10 million), and the Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program (TIRCP) ($2.5 million). Additionally, $11.6 million in federal funding was secured, including $9.6 million from the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant, $1 million from the FY24 THUD Appropriations Bill through Congressional Directed Spending, and $1,200,313 from other local and federal sources.
