Green Line Light Rail Temporarily Suspended

SacRT temporarily suspended Green Line light rail service on June 16, 2025, to allow for major construction in the Railyards area, including the addition of a new light rail station at 7th Street and Railyards Boulevard. The closure is expected to last through summer 2026 and only impacts one light rail station, the 7th & Richards/Township 9 Station, since all the other stops are served by either Blue or Gold line trains.

Alternative Service

During the Green Line disruption, the 7th & Richards/Township 9 Station is closed to light rail service; however, nearby bus stops  remain open, and riders are encouraged to use bus route 11 as an alternative.  View new route 11 schedule here.

To better serve impacted light rail customers, Route 11 offers expanded weekday service from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday. In addition, several bus routes in the area: 11, 103, 106, and 129, are detoured off of 7th Street. The stop at 8th & F streets is temporarily not serving these routes, but will continue to serve Route 51.

Transfers Between Light Rail and Bus Route 11

During the Green Line service disruption, riders can easily transfer between the Gold and Blue light rail lines and bus Route 11 at the 7th & Capitol Station or 8th & Capitol Station.

  • Transferring from Light Rail to Bus Route 11:
Exit at 7th & Capitol Station or 8th & Capitol Station (depending on direction) and walk a short distance to the bus stop on Capitol Mall at 7th Street (north side). Route 11 provides service to and from the Richards Boulevard area, including stops near the temporarily closed 7th & Richards/Township 9 Station.
  • Transferring from Bus Route 11 to Light Rail:
Exit Route 11 at the Capitol Mall and 7th Street stop. Walk to the nearby 7th & Capitol Station or 8th & Capitol Station to connect with Gold or Blue line trains.

Note: Downtown Sacramento light rail trains run in one direction, make sure to note your direction of travel.

  • Boarding Trains at 7 & Capitol:
    • Blue Line: Heads toward Cosumnes River College Station
    • Gold Line: Heads toward Sunrise/Historic Folsom Station
  • Boarding Trains at 8 & Capitol:
