Green Line Light Rail Service Resumes
After more than a year-long suspension for construction of a new station, SacRT’s Green Line light rail service resumed on Monday, October 12, 2026.
The Green Line had been temporarily suspended since June 2025, while crews completed major construction work to prepare for the new 7th & Railyards Station and surrounding project site.
Green Line trains are once again connecting riders with the 7th & Richards/Township 9 Station in the River District. The new 7th & Railyards Station will open for passenger service on Thursday, October 15.
The return of Green Line service marks an important milestone in the transformation of the Railyards and surrounding River District, providing riders with direct light rail access to the area while supporting continued development and growth.
Route 11 Returns to Regular Service
Also, beginning Monday, October 12, bus route 11 resumed its regular service schedule.
Route 11 had operated with expanded weekday service during the Green Line suspension to provide additional transportation options for riders traveling to and from the Richards Boulevard area.
With Green Line service back, the temporary expanded Route 11 service ended and bus route 11 has returned to its regular service plan.
Effective, Monday, October 12, these extra trips no longer operate:
- 5:36 a.m. – Club Center to City College
- 7:18 p.m. – City College to Natomas
- 7:30 p.m. – Natomas Marketplace to City College
- 7:48 p.m. – City College to Natomas
- 8:00 p.m. – Natomas Marketplace to City College
New 7th & Railyards Station Opens October 15
The new 7th & Railyards Station will officially open on Thursday, October 15, adding a new light rail station to the Green Line.
The station is located at 7th Street and Railyards Boulevard and will provide convenient access to the growing Railyards development, including future residential, retail, entertainment and other destinations.
The new station will be SacRT’s 55th light rail station. Learn more about the new station at sacrt.com/Railyards.
Thank you to our riders for your patience while this important construction project was completed. We look forward to welcoming you back aboard the Green Line.
