Updated Folsom 15 Minute Map 1

Rider Alert Update: SacRT shuttle buses will continue to serve the Glenn/Robert G. Holderness Station during station construction. Shuttle buses will continue to travel between Historic Folsom, Glenn/Robert G. Holderness and Iron Point stations.

SacRT is adding a passing track at the Glenn/Robert G. Holderness Station to be able to provide 15-minute light rail service to all Folsom area stations including Hazel, Iron Point, Glenn/Robert G. Holderness and Historic Folsom. Construction work related to the Folsom 15-Minute Light Service Project began on January 2, 2024. Light rail customers can expect service disruptions for the duration of the expected six-month construction period.

The following information provides the dates and details:

Thursday, January 4, 2024 – July 2024
Gold Line: Bus bridge between Iron Point and Historic Folsom stations. Construction of the passing track will take place near the Glenn/Robert G. Holderness Station. There is NO light rail service between Iron Point and Historic Folsom stations.

Light rail service is available at Iron Point Station for travel to and from downtown Sacramento. If a customer does not want to take the shuttle bus they can park and catch the train at one of SacRT’s free park-and-ride lots at Iron Point, Hazel and Sunrise stations.

Once construction is completed in summer 2024, SacRT will operate 15-minute service at all Folsom area stations (Hazel, Iron Point, Glenn/Robert G Holderness and Historic Folsom) using new low-floor light rail trains.

Folsom Boulevard Lane Closures

There are lane closures on Folsom Boulevard as part of the Folsom 15-Minute Project. These closures will affect the stretch of Folsom Boulevard between Bidwell Street and Parkshore Drive. Glenn Drive will also be closed between Folsom Blvd and Coolridge Drive.

During the construction period, the two northbound lanes closest to the train tracks will be closed to vehicular traffic. To ensure the safety of commuters and construction crews, vehicle traffic will be redirected into the adjacent southbound lanes for both directions of travel.

Folsom Boulevard will be reduced from two lanes to one lane in both directions and the speed limit reduced to 35 mph. The lane closures are expected to remain in effect seven days a week until the completion of the project in summer 2024.

To help ease traffic congestion during this period, motorists are recommended to take alternate routes and adjust travel times if possible.

Project Timeline

Construction is expected to be completed by summer 2024. Upon project completion, new low-floor trains will arrive in and depart from Historic Folsom Station every 15 minutes.
