Questions & Answers from the June 9 SacRT Go & SacRT e-van Virtual Open Houses

June 23, 2021 General

I am currently an e-van rider, do you plan to change your hours of operation? Will I be riding SacRT GO or e-van?

There will be no changes to the hours of operations for e-van. If your trip is within the city limits of Elk Grove, your trip will be provided by SacRT e-van and will fall under the SacRT e-van fare structure. If either your origin or destination is outside the City of Elk Grove, the trip will be provided by SacRT GO and will fall under the SacRT GO fare structure.

Do I have to recertify my eligibility to ride SacRT GO if I currently ride e-van?

SacRT will grandfather all eligibility of e-van riders to the SacRT GO Service. There will be no need to recertify unless your eligibility has already expired.

How can I purchase fare?

Fares for SacRT GO can be purchased at our Customer Service Office at 1225 R St. Also, fare can be purchased over the phone at (916) 321-2877

How early can I ride?

SacRT GO ADA service is available while a regular fixed route or light rail service line is running. ADA service is within 3/4 miles of the active route or light rail run.

For SacRT e-van, you may ride Monday through Friday from 5:30AM to 10:30PM, and Saturdays and Sundays from 7:00AM to 6:00PM.

Please explain the pickup window for SacRT GO.

When you call to reserve your ride, you will be given a 30-minute “pick-up window” in which the vehicle will arrive. You will need to be ready at the beginning of your “pick-up window”.  For example, if your negotiated “ready time” is 8:00 a.m., your 30-minute “pick-up window” is 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. You will need to be ready to board at 8:00 a.m.  By being ready when the vehicle arrives, you help keep everyone’s trips on schedule.

e-van has a different pick-up window, which is 15 minutes before and 15 minutes after your negotiated time. What this means is that if you are scheduled to be picked up at 8:00AM, the driver may arrive between 7:45AM and 8:15AM. We will be sure to provide the riders of e-van a copy of the SacRT GO rider’s guide.

Will any policies change?

No. SacRT has always determined policies related to ADA Paratransit Service. All policies will still be in effect on the day of transition.

SacRT has committed to keeping the current e-van policies in place. The rider should not experience any change in the service they are receiving.

What number do I call to book a trip for SacRT GO?

(916) 321-2877 (BUSS), Option 2. Select option 2 again to book your ride.

Are you working on an app for SacRT GO?

Yes. We are currently doing testing on the app and hope to have it available soon.

When we purchase ride tickets are they available to use that same day?

When you purchase tickets at Customer Service, the tickets are valid immediately. If you call and purchase tickets with your credit card, you would have to wait until you receive the tickets in the mail. If you purchase a monthly 60-ride pass, it will be valid immediately, allowing you to ride fixed route bus, SmaRT Ride and light rail at no extra cost.

e-van tickets are available for use as soon as you ride and validate the pass with the driver.

Will you be sending this information so I can give it to my staff?

This session as well as this evening’s session will be posted on our website along with these questions and answers.

I have an e-tran pass good for 44 rides, is it valid?

Yes, your current e-van pass will remain valid until and throughout the transition.

Do I need to make a reservation? Or whatever scheduled I had at e-tran is considered valid?

All your rides scheduled with e-van will remain valid. If you have any question that is specific to a ride, please feel free to call our reservations staff and we will be more than happy to help you.

Just to confirm, the e-van 10-ride and/or 44-ride pass will only work on the e-van service in Elk Grove, not on SacRT GO Paratransit, correct?

That is correct. The 10-ride and/or 44-ride pass will only work on the e-van service in Elk Grove.

Will there be any changes with the fare I’m having when my pass has reached its limit?

There will be no change to the fare. The SacRT e-van fare will remain at $3.50 for a single ride pass and $5.00 for a SacRT GO single ride pass.

Can I use my e-van in SacRT GO?

The e-van pass is only valid for the e-van service.

So, buying a pass with e-van and SacRT GO is different?

Yes. SacRT e-van passes are only valid for local-to-local Elk Grove trips using e-van service. The SacRT GO passes are only valid for regional trips.

To confirm, will the e-van service continue to serve the medical centers in South Sacramento as they currently do? Or do people have to use SacRT GO Paratransit for South Sacramento medical centers?

That is correct. The e-van service will remain the same and will continue to serve the medical centers in South Sacramento.

Will SacRT GO have Connect Card?

SacRT is actively looking for alternative electronic fare methods for the SacRT GO Service, being mindful of accessibility.

Will there be access to Delta Shores?

We briefly ran bus service to Delta Shores, when we had extra time in the schedule of a nearby route, but it was an opportunistic, not policy-based decision.  When we redesigned our bus network in 2019, the design approach was that Delta Shores was still too distant and isolated from other destinations to justify fixed-route service. We are closely following new development in Delta Shores and have added this service design option in our short range transit plan update.

When will the light rail station open at Morrison Creek?

We plan to open Morrison Creek light rail station Sunday August 29.

What is the bus number for CRC to Arden Fair?
