The Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) partnered with UC Davis Health to launch a new bus service called the Elk Grove/UC Davis Medical Center Express (bus route 137) which operates between the city of Elk Grove and the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. The express bus began service on September 5, 2023, and operates Monday through Friday with six morning trips and six evening trips.

Funding for the new bus service was provided by UC Davis Health as a way to offer a convenient transportation solution to employees and students who commute from Elk Grove.

Morning Trips Departing Elk Grove

The UC Davis Medical Center Express bus picks up in Elk Grove at four key locations, plus convenient neighborhood stops along the way on Bruceville Rd and Laguna Blvd. From the last stop at the Caltrans Sheldon Road Park-and-Ride lot, the route runs non-stop on Highway 99 to the UC Davis Medical Center in just seventeen minutes.  The first trip arrives at 6:15 am and the last morning trip arrives at 8:45 am, with trips arriving every 30 minutes in between.

Afternoon Trips Departing UC Davis Medical Center

The UC Davis Medical Center Express bus departs the UC Davis Medical Center every 30 minutes starting at 4:15 p.m. through 6:45 p.m. headed back to Elk Grove.

Cost to Ride

A single ride is $2.50. All SacRT tickets and passes, and exact cash/change are accepted, including ZipPass and Connect Card.

Employees and students at UC Davis Health can receive free fare by obtaining a Connect Card from the Parking and Transportation Office. Affiliates can visit Elk Grove Commuter Bus (ucdavis.edu) for more information.

First Week Free for UC Davis Health Employees
To celebrate the launch of the UC Davis Medical Center Express bus, SacRT is offering free rides to UC Davis Health employees between Tuesday, September 5 through Friday, September 8, 2023. To ride free, UC Davis Health employees simply show their valid ID badge to the bus operator when boarding.

Holiday Service
The UC Davis Medical Center Express bus will not operate on the following holidays: New Years Day, MLK Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
