This October marks 20 years since light rail service first rolled into the city of Folsom. On October 15, 2005, SacRT extended the Gold Line east from Sunrise Station, connecting Folsom residents to Sacramento and beyond with a convenient transit option.
Over the past two decades, light rail has become a vital link for Folsom — connecting residents to jobs, schools, shopping, recreation, and events throughout the region. Whether you’re a longtime commuter or a weekend rider, we’re proud to have been part of your journey.
“For 20 years, light rail has been a bridge connecting riders between Folsom and the Sacramento region,” said SacRT General Manager/CEO Henry Li. “We’re grateful for the continued support of our riders and excited about continued improvements ahead.”
“Light rail has been an important part of Folsom’s growth and vitality,” said Folsom Mayor Sarah Aquino. “We look forward to building on this partnership as SacRT continues to invest in our community.”
