SacRT Extending Date for Riders to Transition to New Transit Connect App
SACRAMENTO, CA – The Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) is reminding riders that its new mobile ticketing app, Transit Connect, is now available and will fully replace the ZipPass app effective Monday, June 15, 2026. To support riders still holding active ZipPass tickets, SacRT is extending the ZipPass retirement date an additional 45 days from Thursday, April 30, 2026.
Transit Connect offers riders a smarter, simpler, and more secure way to purchase, store, and activate fare products for SacRT.
Transit Connect Now Available; ZipPass Retiring June 15th
To support riders who still have active ZipPass tickets, SacRT is extending the ZipPass retirement date.
- Riders may continue using ZipPass to redeem any remaining active passes through Monday, June 15, 2026.
- After June 15th, ZipPass will be fully retired and no longer available.
- Riders are encouraged to download Transit Connect now to ensure a smooth transition.
“Transit Connect represents the next generation of fare payment technology for our region,” said SacRT General Manager/CEO Henry Li. “By extending the ZipPass end date, we are giving riders ample time to use their existing passes while making the transition to a modern, convenient, and integrated system. This upgrade will significantly improve the customer experience and streamline travel across multiple transit providers.”
Regional Transit Connect Partners
Transit Connect is being developed to support a seamless, integrated fare experience across multiple Northern California transit providers by fall 2026, further expanding rider convenience and regional mobility. Those transit providers include El Dorado Transit, Placer County Transit, Roseville Transit, Sacramento Regional Transit, South County Transit (SCT Link), Unitrans, Yolobus and Yuba-Sutter Transit.
More Enhancements Coming This Fall
Phase 2 of Transit Connect launches this fall and will introduce additional rider‑focused features, including:
- Contactless Tap2Ride validation
- Fare capping so riders never pay more than the daily maximum
- Ability to load cash at SacRT fare vending machines and participating retailers
- Transition of Connect Card users into Transit Connect later this fall
Discount Fare Riders: Quick and Easy Setup
Transit Connect allows seniors, students, veterans, and riders with disabilities to activate discount fare eligibility directly within the app. Riders simply select their discount category to unlock reduced pricing on single‑ride, daily, and monthly passes.
