SACRAMENTO, CA — Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) will resume Blue Line light rail service between City College and Meadowview stations five days earlier than originally scheduled, following the completion of platform modifications at 47th Ave Station ahead of schedule.

Blue Line service will resume by the beginning of service on Saturday, September 26, 2026. The current service disruption, which began September 11 and was originally scheduled to continue through September 30, requires a bus bridge between City College and Meadowview stations while crews complete platform construction work at 47th Avenue Station and shelter adjustments at Fruitridge Station.

Contractors were able to complete the platform modifications sooner than expected, allowing SacRT to restore train service ahead of schedule.

More Blue Line Construction Ahead

While the current work is ending early, additional construction is still required on the Blue Line as SacRT continues preparing the system for the operation of new low-floor light rail vehicles, which are expected to begin entering service by summer 2027.

The next phase of platform construction will take place at Fruitridge Station from Monday, October 5 through Saturday, October 17, 2026, resulting in temporary Blue Line service changes.

Monday, Oct. 5 – Wednesday, Oct. 7:

• Blue Line trains will be able to travel through the construction area.
• Fruitridge Station will be closed to riders.
• A bus bridge will operate between City College and 47th Avenue stations for riders traveling to or from Fruitridge Station.

Thursday, Oct. 8 – Saturday, Oct. 17:

• A bus bridge will operate between City College and Florin stations.
• In the north, Blue Line trains will operate between Watt/I-80 and City College stations.
• In the south, Blue Line trains will operate between Florin and Cosumnes River College stations.

SacRT encourages riders to allow additional travel time during the construction period and to download the free Alert SacRT app for service updates.

Upcoming October 18th Service Impacts

Following the Fruitridge Station construction work, riders should also be aware of a separate service disruption on Sunday, October 18, 2026, when the Ironman Triathlon will impact Blue and Gold Line service in the downtown area.
