SacRT Offers Fare-Free Rides on California Clean Air Day

Ride bus and light rail for free on Wednesday, October 7 with a “Ride Transit” flyer

SACRAMENTO, CA — Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) is celebrating California Clean Air Day on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, by offering fare-free rides on SacRT fixed-route bus and light rail with a “Ride Transit” flyer.

Riders can simply print or screenshot the “Ride Transit” flyer and show it when boarding SacRT bus and light rail on October 7. No fare is required when the flyer is presented.

California Clean Air Day encourages Californians to take actions that help improve air quality. Choosing public transportation instead of driving alone is one-way individuals can help reduce vehicle emissions and traffic congestion.

“California Clean Air Day is a great opportunity to leave the car at home and try transit,” said SacRT General Manager/CEO Henry Li. “By choosing bus or light rail, even for one trip, our riders are helping reduce congestion and emissions while discovering another way to get around the Sacramento region.”

Small Decisions, Big Impacts
Public transit can make a significant difference in reducing the number of vehicles on the road. An average transit bus can remove approximately 60 single-occupant vehicles from the road during a typical commute, while a single light rail train car can replace approximately 100 cars.

SacRT encourages the community to take the California Clean Air Day pledge and invite friends, family and coworkers to participate.
