Expanding Access to On-Demand Transportation for People with Disabilities

SacRT is proud to serve as the Local Access Fund Administrator (LAFA) for Sacramento County under the Access for All (AFA) Program, a statewide initiative developed by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to implement Senate Bill 1376.

This program is designed to increase the availability of on-demand transportation service for individuals with disabilities, including those who require wheelchair accessible vehicles (WAVs).

Program Update: Funding Award Announced

SacRT is pleased to announce that, following a competitive review process, the SacRT Flex Microtransit Service has been selected to receive Access for All funding to expand on-demand wheelchair accessible vehicle service in Sacramento County.

The program has been awarded $3,759,291 to support service implementation and operations from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2029. The service will be delivered in partnership with Nomad Transit, LLC (a subsidiary of Via Transportation), pending contract execution.

This funding will help SacRT:

  • Sustain and expand Flex service beyond the current pilot phase
  • Increase availability of WAV vehicles
  • Improve service reliability and reduce wait times
  • Enhance the level of service with weekend hours
