Sacramento Valley Station Relocation Project

Project Status Update: Construction On Hold
SacRT has completed 100% design for the Sacramento Valley Station (SVS) Relocation Project; however, construction is currently on hold pending identification of construction funding. SacRT continues to work closely with regional partners and pursue funding opportunities to advance this important project.

Project Overview

The SVS Relocation Project will relocate the existing Sacramento Valley Station light rail platform to a new north–south configuration on the Gold Line. This relocation supports the City of Sacramento’s vision for a future Intermodal Transportation Facility—a comprehensive mobility hub integrating:

  • SacRT light rail and bus service
  • The future Downtown Riverfront Streetcar
  • Amtrak train and bus services
  • Passenger and freight rail
  • Regional bike and pedestrian connections
  • The future California High‑Speed Rail station

When funded, the project will include the following key improvements:

  • Relocation of the existing SVS light rail station to better serve transit users
  • Double‑tracking the alignment to increase service capacity and operational efficiency
  • Installation of a double crossover along H Street (between 5th and 7th streets) for more flexible train operations
  • New track north of the station along F Street for storage and operational support

    Environmental Review

The project has completed the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) review. This review is critical for assessing the environmental impact of the track realignment and new station location.

SacRT remains committed to advancing the Sacramento Valley Station Relocation Project as funding becomes available to support construction.
