SacRT Fare Categories
Basic Fare
Most passengers pay the Basic fare unless eligible for a Discount or free fare. Proof of eligibility for discount fare is required.
Discount Fare
Discounts are available to seniors, persons with disabilities, and students.
Veterans are now eligible for discount fare only through SacRT’s new Tap2Ride program. Tap2Ride discounts also apply to seniors (65+) and Medicare cardholders. Pre-registration is required. Visit sacrt.com/Tap2Ride for details.
- Seniors (Ages 62+): Show proof of age, like a senior ID, driver license, or passport, to qualify for the Senior Fare. Click here for the Application for Senior Discount Fare.
- Persons with Disabilities: Show a disability ID card, Medicare card, or an ID from another agency. Click here for the Application for Disabled Discount ID Card.
- Attendants of person with disabilities may ride for the Discount Fare if they are riding with another passenger who has valid SacRT disabled photo ID card with an “attendant” eligibility notation
- Super Seniors (Aged 75+): Proof of age is required to buy a Super Senior sticker, available at SacRT’s Customer Service Center located at 1225 R Street.
- Students (Grades TK-12): Students/youth that live or go to school in SacRT’s service area are eligible for a RydeFreeRT card, which offers fare-free transit. Visit RydeFreeRT.com for details.
Class Pass
For group travel of 10+ students and chaperones during school hours (9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.) $2.50 per student (free for RydeFreeRT participants with a valid RydeFreeRT card) and $5 per adult.

Free Fare
- Children (Age 5 and under): Up to two children ride free with a fare-paying adult.
- Lifetime Pass Holders (Aged 75+): Passengers with a Lifetime Pass from before September 1, 2009, get free rides on buses and light rail.
