Light Rail Service Disruptions Scheduled in May

SACRAMENTO, CA – The Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) is alerting riders of light rail service disruptions that will occur in May 2024. Station platform construction is underway to meet the height requirements of new low-floor light rail vehicles that will begin service on the Gold and Green lines this summer.

Below is the planned station construction schedule. Please note that the schedule may change due to weather or other factors. Riders are urged to download the free Alert SacRT app and check the website for updates at sacrt.com/stationclosure.

Friday, May 10, 2024*

The 13th Street Station is closed for customers boarding and deboarding. Light rail trains will travel through 13th Street Station; however, passengers cannot board or deboard at the station because of construction activity. The nearest open stations are Archives Plaza Station and 16th Street Station. All Green Line passengers need to board and deboard at Archives Plaza Station.

Saturday, May 11, 2024

Due to station platform construction that will impact the tracks at 13th Street Station, several light rail stations on the Blue and Gold lines will not have light rail service. Instead, bus bridges (shuttle bus between stations) will be in place:

      • Gold Line: Bus bridge between 29th Street and Sacramento Valley stations.
      • Blue Line: Bus bridge between Globe and Broadway stations.

Wednesday, May 15 – Friday, May 17, 2024*

The Archives Plaza Station will be closed for customers boarding and deboarding. Light rail trains will travel through Archives Plaza Station; however, passengers will not be able to board or deboard at the station because of construction activity. The nearest open stations are 13th Street Station and 8th & Capitol Station (inbound) and 8th & O Station (outbound).

Saturday, May 18, 2024

Due to station platform construction that will impact the tracks at Archives Plaza Station, several light rail stations on the Blue and Gold lines will not have light rail service. Instead, bus bridges (shuttle bus between stations) will be in place:

      • Gold Line: Bus bridge between 29th Street and Sacramento Valley stations.
      • Blue Line: Bus bridge between Globe and Broadway stations.

The nearest open outbound stations are 13th Street Station and 8th & O Station.

Saturday, May 25 - Sunday, May 26, 2024

Due to station platform construction that will impact the tracks at Archives Plaza Station, several light rail stations on the Blue and Gold lines will not have light rail service. Instead, bus bridges (shuttle bus between stations) will be in place:

      • Gold Line: Bus bridge between 13th Street and Sacramento Valley stations.
      • Blue Line: Bus bridge between Globe and 13th Street stations.

Monday, May 27 – Friday, May 31, 2024*

The Archives Plaza Station outbound platform will be closed for customers boarding and deboarding. Light rail trains will travel through Archives Plaza Station; however, passengers will not be able to board or deboard on the outbound platform because of construction activity. The nearest open outbound stations are 13th Street Station and 8th & O Station.

*No bus bridge (shuttle bus between stations) will be available during these closures.

The first phase of the station platform modifications on the Gold Line is expected to be completed in June 2024; however, light rail train testing and double-tracking construction in Folsom will continue through August 2024.
