Celebrate the arrival of spring by biking to work, school, or just for fun. Riding your bike is a great way to boost your mental and physical health while helping the environment. 

May is Bike Month is your chance to join a fun regional challenge, attend exciting bike events, and win awesome prizes. all while connecting with fellow riders and advocates.

Bikes + Transit = The Perfect Pair 

At SacRT, we make it easy to combine biking and transit for a smooth, sustainable ride. 

  • Bike Racks on Buses: All SacRT buses are equipped with front bike racks that hold 2–3 bikes. 
  • Bikes on Light Rail: Bikes are allowed on all light rail trains. 
  • Bike Lockers: Secure bike lockers are available to rent at many light rail stations. Learn more at sacrt.com/bikeandride. 

How to Bike & Ride on Light Rail

High-Floor Light Rail Trains

  • Place your bike in the front or the rear of the car, near the flip-up seats.  
  • Enter though the front or rear doors after other passengers have boarded or exited.
  • Limit: 4 bikes per car (2 in front, 2 in back)
  • Please note: No bikes allowed in the front of the first car. This space is reserved for riders with disabilities.

How to Bike & Ride on Light Rail

Low-Floor Light Rail Trains

  • Use the designated bike areas located at the far ends of the lower level (look for the bicycle decals). 
  • You may sit in the priority seating area near your bike however, we ask that you be ready to move if a rider with a disability needs the space.
  • Up to 4 bicycles are allowed on each train car at once.
  • Please note: Riders have priority, and SacRT may ask bicyclists to exit if the train becomes too full.
