Coming Summer 2026: 7th & Railyards Station
New Green Line Station Coming Soon!
SacRT is excited to announce the upcoming 7th & Railyards Boulevard Station, a major addition to our light rail network. This station will connect Sacramento’s vibrant Railyards development—including the future Major League Soccer stadium, new residential neighborhoods, and retail spaces—to the rest of the region.
Construction Timeline:
- Track alignment began June 2025
- Station construction started October 2025
- Opening planned for September 2026
Why the Station Hasn’t Opened Yet
Although construction at the station appears nearly complete, there is one final step before SacRT can begin service. After the contractor finishes the physical work, SacRT must submita testing verification report to the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to review and accept before permitting the station to open for passenger service.
The CPUC review and approval process typically takes three weeks to one month. Once SacRT receives approval, we will announce the official opening date and begin preparing for service.
Thank you for your patience as we complete this last required step to safely open the station.
Why It Matters:
The Railyards is one of the largest urban infill projects in the nation, and this station will provide sustainable transportation options for thousands of residents and visitors. It will also enhance connectivity to Sacramento Valley Station, the city’s intermodal hub for Amtrak and regional transit.
Green Line Connection:
The new station will be part of SacRT’s Green Line, which currently runs from 13th Street to Township 9 and will eventually extend to Natomas and Sacramento International Airport.
