SacRT Announces June Blue Line Service Changes for Platform Modernization Work

SACRAMENTO, CA – The Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) is alerting riders to upcoming service changes along the Blue Line as construction continues to prepare stations for SacRT’s new low-floor light rail vehicles. The work will require temporary station closures and bus bridge service during two periods in June, and riders are encouraged to plan extra travel time.

The upgrades are part of SacRT’s Light Rail Modernization Project, which is bringing systemwide improvements including raised station platforms, more accessible boarding, and future three-car train operations.

June 12–14, 2026: Watt/I-80 to Swanston
Station platform grinding will take place at Watt/I80 West and Marconi/Arcade stations between Friday, June 12 at the start of service and continues through end of service on Sunday, June 14.

  • Stations closed: Watt/I‑80, Watt/I‑80 West, Roseville Road, Marconi/Arcade
  • Bus bridge: Shuttle buses will operate between Swanston and Watt/I‑80 stations; no shuttle service at Watt/I‑80 West Station
  • Light rail service: Will continue to operate between Swanston and Cosumnes River College stations.

June 17–20, 2026: 47th Avenue to Cosumnes River College
Platform grinding and signal upgrades will occur between Florin and Cosumnes River College between start of service on Wednesday, June 17 through end of service on Saturday, June 20.

  • Stations closed: Florin, Meadowview, Morrison Creek, Franklin, Center Parkway, Cosumnes River College
  • Bus bridge: Shuttle buses will operate between 47th Avenue and Cosumnes River College stations; no shuttle service at Morrison Creek Station
  • Light rail service: Will continue to operate between 47th Avenue and Watt/I‑80 stations

Shuttle buses will run every 20–30 minutes and are fully accessible with ramp deployment and priority seating. Due to surface street traffic, shuttle buses cannot match train schedule so riders are encouraged to allow extra travel time.

SacRT reminds riders that many platforms have been raised eight inches for future low-floor operations. Riders should watch their step and use designated crosswalks at the ends of platforms.

To stay informed during the construction periods, riders are encouraged to download the free Alert SacRT app for real-time service updates and the ability to report safety concerns directly to Regional Transit Police Services.
