SacRT Announces October Light Rail Service Disruptions for Blue Line Construction and Ironman California

SACRAMENTO, CA — Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) is advising riders of temporary light rail service changes in October due to construction at Fruitridge Station and the Ironman California Triathlon. 

Blue Line Construction Impacts: October 5–17 

Beginning Monday, October 5, through Saturday, October 17, Blue Line service will be temporarily modified to accommodate platform construction at Fruitridge Station. SacRT will operate bus bridges to help riders travel through the affected area. 

Monday, October 5 – Wednesday, October 7: 
Blue Line trains will continue traveling through the construction area; however, Fruitridge Station will be closed to riders. A bus bridge will operate between City College and 47th Avenue stations for riders who need to access or depart Fruitridge Station. 

Thursday, October 8 – Saturday, October 17: 
A bus bridge will operate between City College and Florin stations. 

  • North: Blue Line trains will operate normally between Watt/I-80 Station and City College Station. 
  • South: Blue Line trains will operate between Florin Station and Cosumnes River College Station. 
  • Riders traveling through the affected area should allow additional time and follow signs and announcements directing them to bus bridge service.

Ironman California Impacts: Sunday, October 18 
On Sunday, October 18, the Ironman California Triathlon will bring road closures and traffic impacts throughout downtown Sacramento. SacRT will make temporary adjustments to light rail and select bus routes to accommodate the event racecourse. 

  • Gold Line
    A bus bridge will operate between Sacramento Valley Station and 13th Street Station. 
  • Blue Line
    A bus bridge will operate between 13th Street and Cathedral Square, serving the downtown area near 10th & K and 11th & K streets. 
  • Bus Routes 11 and 51
    Bus routes 11 and 51 will be detoured due to event-related road closures. Riders may experience delays and temporary stop closures. 
  • Other Bus Routes
    All other bus routes will operate normally; however, riders traveling through downtown Sacramento should expect increased traffic and potential delays.
