SACRAMENTO, CA – The Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) will temporarily close the Alkali Flat/La Valentina Station for platform construction from Saturday, March 22 through Sunday, March 30, 2025. During this time, a bus bridge (shuttle bus between stations) will provide service between Globe Station and Cathedral Square Station to assist riders in reaching their destinations.

This construction is part of SacRT’s system-wide platform modernization effort to accommodate the new S700 low-floor light rail vehicles and improve accessibility.

Service Disruptions Details:

  • Dates: March 22-30, 2025
  • Bus Bridge: Shuttle buses will operate between Globe, Alkali Flat/La Valentina, 12th & I and Cathedral Square stations.
Note: For outbound trips, headed toward Watt/I-80 Station, riders will need to board shuttle buses at 9th & K instead of 11th & K.

This service disruption will be the last for station platform construction this year, SacRT is working on a new contract to complete the remaining Blue Line stations, which is expected to begin in early 2026. SacRT anticipates the new low-floor light rail trains will be ready for service on the Blue Line in late 2027.
