SacRT Reduces Student Monthly Pass Price One More Time for Summer
Students in the Sacramento region have even more to celebrate this summer as the Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) once again reduces its student monthly pass cost. The $20 Student Monthly Pass is now on sale as a Two-Month Summer Pass for just $30, a 25% savings for K through12 students. The Two-Month Summer Pass will be valid during July and August for unlimited travel on bus, light rail, and SacRT’s new microtransit service, SmaRT Ride.
“Encouraging public transportation among young people is extremely important, especially if they are to become lifelong transit riders,” said SacRT General Manager/CEO Henry Li. “We are pleased to offer this $30 two-month pass and encourage parents to take advantage of the savings opportunity.”
SacRT reduced its K through 12 Student Monthly Pass in January from $55 to just $20 in an attempt to attract more young people to the transit system. Within the first quarter, ridership escalated, more than tripling the number of students riding the system.
The two-month pass went on sale today and can be downloaded via ZipPass, SacRT’s mobile fare app, or through Connect Card, the region’s smart card, which can be obtained for free from Raley’s/Bel Air, online at connecttransitcard.com or at the Customer Service and Sales Center located at 1225 R Street (adjacent to the 13th Street Station). The two-month pass is on sale now and will be valid beginning Sunday, July 1, through Friday, August 31.
