Support Earth Day and Try Transit for Your Trips

SacRT Offering a Try Transit Promotion on Wednesday, April 22, 2026

SACRAMENTO, CA – In celebration of Earth Day, Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) is encouraging the community to choose a cleaner, more sustainable way to travel. On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, SacRT will offer fare-free rides on all fixedroute buses and light rail trains. Riders simply need to show the promotional flyer as proof of fare, which is available on SacRT’s website.

Transportation is one of the largest contributors to air pollution, with single occupancy vehicles creating a significant share of emissions. By opting for public transit, even for a single trip, riders can make a meaningful impact on air quality and help build a healthier region.

How to Ride on Earth Day

  • Print or screenshot the promotional ride flyer from SacRT’s website.
  • Show the flyer to operators when boarding bus or transit agents when on board light rail.
  • Enjoy unlimited travel on SacRT fixed-route bus and light rail on April 22nd with valid flyer.

SacRT encourages riders to bring a friend and experience the convenience of transit together. Earth Day is the perfect opportunity for new and returning riders to explore routes, try a commute alternative, or simply enjoy a fare free trip to their destination.

Plan Your Trip
Riders can plan their fare free Earth Day trip using SacRT’s online trip planner, calling the Customer Service Center at 916-321-BUSS (2877), or visiting the How to Ride page to learn more about using bus and light rail services.
