Temporary Blue and Gold Line Service Disruptions Scheduled for July 2026

SACRAMENTO, CA – The Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) will implement temporary service disruptions on the Blue and Gold light rail lines in July 2026 due to construction activity at the 8th & O Station and continued work to support the new Dos Rios Station. The work is part of an ongoing effort to modernize light rail platforms and prepare for the arrival of new low-floor train cars on the Blue Line.

July 7–8, 2026: Limited Impacts
On Tuesday, July 7 and Wednesday, July 8, the 8th & O Station will be closed to passengers. Trains will travel through the station but will not stop. Riders who normally use the 8th & O Station should use 7th & Capitol or 8th & Capitol stations. No bus bridge will operate on these two days.

July 9–12, 2026: Bus Bridge on Blue and Gold Lines
From Thursday, July 9 through Sunday, July 12, a bus bridge will operate in the downtown area to support both the Blue and Gold lines.

  • Blue Line shuttle buses will operate between 13th Street Station and Globe Station, stopping at each station in between.
  • Gold Line shuttle buses will operate between 13th Street Station and Sacramento Valley Station, stopping at each station in between.

During this period, several downtown stations will be closed. Blue Line trains will operate in two segments between 13th Street and Cosumnes River College stations in the south, and between Globe and Watt/I‑80 stations in the north. Gold Line trains will operate between 13th Street and Historic Folsom stations.

Shuttle buses will serve affected station areas and operate every 20 to 30 minutes. Riders should allow extra time for transfers, as shuttle buses may be impacted by surface street traffic.

July 18–19, 2026: Additional Blue Line Disruption for Dos Rios Project Work
On Saturday, July 18 and Sunday, July 19, a separate Blue Line service disruption will occur to complete additional overhead catenary system (OCS) work associated with the new Dos Rios Station. During this weekend:

  • A bus bridge will operate between Marconi/Arcade Station and Cathedral Square (11th & K and 10th & K).
  • Blue Line trains will continue to operate north of Marconi Station and south of Cathedral Square, with shuttle buses connecting in-between.

Riders traveling through this segment should plan for additional travel time and transfer between rail and bus bridge service. A full list of closed stations and shuttle bus boarding locations is available at sacrt.com/StationClosure.

Safety Reminder
Platform heights have been raised at many stations. Riders are encouraged to watch their step when navigating platforms and to cross tracks only at designated areas at the ends of platforms.
