Major construction is now complete on this project that includes a variety of improvements that create a safer, more accessible environment at one of the region’s largest transit hubs.
Watt/I-80 Transit Center Reopened for Passenger Service
As of Saturday, October 17, the Watt/I-80 Transit Center has fully reopened for passenger service.*
The upper-level bus stop and stairs are now open on both sides of Watt Avenue. The southbound bus stop serves bus route 1, 26, 84 and 93. The northbound bus stop serves bus routes 1, 15, 26, 84 and 93.
*Please note: The west elevator will remain closed while additional work is completed. An opening date has not yet been determined. Riders who need elevator access should use the east elevator and cross Watt Avenue at the designated pedestrian crossing.
This marks the completion of the final major phase of construction for the Watt/I-80 Transit Center Improvement Project, which began in July 2024 to create a safer, more accessible environment for riders. The contractor will complete a few remaining details through November 2026 but this work will not affect riders.

About the Project
The Watt/I-80 Transit Center Improvement Project included widening of the Watt Avenue Bridge, construction of an open-air stairwell linking Watt Avenue and the transit center, a new bus/pedestrian plaza, improvements to on-ramps, and upgrades to the portion of the transit center located beneath Watt Avenue. Collectively, these improvements will help attract more riders, accommodate additional bus service from other regional operators, and enhance the overall safety of the transit center.

Construction on west side of Watt Ave, bus plaza (upper deck on Watt Avenue) and stairs. Southbound bus stops will be temporarily relocated.
March - June 2025 (Completed)
Construction to south on-ramp, lane and ramp closures expected.
May - December 2025 (Completed)
Watt Avenue median replacement, lane closures on Watt Avenue.
December 2025 - August 2026 (Completed)
Construction on east side of Watt Ave, bus plaza (upper deck on Watt Avenue) and stairs. Northbound bus stops will be temporarily relocated.
December 2025 - Summer 2026 (Completed)
Construction to north on-ramp, lane and ramp closures expected.
October 2026
The Watt I-80 Transit Center Improvement Project is expected to be completed. Rider access is unaffected as the contractor is currently finishing up some small items.
