8th & O Station Closure Due to Construction from July 7 - 12, 2026
8th & O Light Rail Station East Platform Closure – Extended Through 2026
The east platform at the 8th & O Station (for trains traveling toward the 8th & Capitol Station) is currently closed due to major renovation construction at the California Department of Water Resources building, located at 1416 9th Street.
This closure is expected to remain in place through 2026, as SacRT needs to modify the inbound station platform to meet the height requirements of the new low-floor trains.
Light rail passengers headed inbound should use the Archives Plaza Station instead. The west platform at 8th & O Station (for trains traveling toward Archives Plaza Station) remains open.
Bus Routes
Starting Tuesday, September 2, 2025, the bus stops at 8th & O and 9th & N reopen after construction wraps up at the DGS building.
The inbound platform at 8th & O Station will remain closed.
