Upcoming Service Disruption on the Blue Line: 15-Day Bus Bridge Starting November 1, 2025

SacRT will have a temporary service disruption on the Blue Line to allow for major construction on the new Dos Rios light rail station. This essential work requires a 15-day consecutive bus bridge—special shuttle bus service that will temporarily replace train service—between Marconi/Arcade Station and Cathedral Square (11th & K and 10th & K stations).

Service Impact Dates:

  • Start: Saturday, November 1, 2025
  • End: Saturday, November 15, 2025 (end of service)
  • Regular service resumes: Sunday, November 16, 2025

A bus bridge will be in place that connects passengers between train stations when rail service is temporarily unavailable. During this construction period, shuttle buses will operate in both directions serving the impacted stations.

Why is this Work Needed?

Crews will be relocating two major infrastructure components to make way for the new Dos Rios Station:

  • The overhead catenary system (which powers the trains)
  • The track infrastructure (new inbound and outbound track configuration)

Because SacRT’s Light Rail Operations and Maintenance Facility is located near Marconi/Arcade Station, the main location where trains are stored, trains will not be able to pass through the construction zone. All train inspections, cleaning, and maintenance will occur out on the system using temporary storage tracks during this time.

Completing the work in a consecutive 15-day window allows SacRT to avoid a longer, more disruptive systemwide.

About the New Dos Rios Station

The future Dos Rios Station will be located in the triangle formed by 12th Street, 16th Street, Sproule Avenue, and Richards Boulevard. Once this construction is complete, Blue Line trains will operate on a new outbound track, bringing us one step closer to opening this new station.
