Starting Monday, June 16, 2025, SacRT will temporarily suspend Green Line light rail service to allow for major construction in the Railyards area, including the addition of a new light rail station at 7th Avenue and Railyards Boulevard. The closure is expected to last through summer 2026 and will only impact one light rail station, the 7th & Richards/Township 9 Station, since all the other stops are served by either Blue or Gold line trains.
Alternative Service
During the Green Line disruption, the 7th & Richards/Township 9 Station will be closed to light rail service; however, nearby bus stops will remain open, and riders are encouraged to use bus route 11 as an alternative.
To better serve impacted light rail customers, Route 11 will offer expanded weekday service from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, beginning Monday, June 16, 2025. In addition, several bus routes in the area: 11, 103, 106, and 129, will be detoured off of 7th Street, and the stop at 8th & F streets will be temporarily closed.
Construction Timeline
The construction timeline includes track alignment work beginning in June 2025, followed by station construction in October 2025. The new station is expected to open in summer 2026.
Bus Route Detour
The bus stop at 8th & F Street closed on May 6, 2025 and will remain closed through February 2026 due to Railyards construction.
Routes 11, 103, 106, and 129 will be detoured via: G St → 6th St → North B St → 7th St
