Project Overview

The SacRT Safe Routes to Transit Plan is a countywide planning effort funded by a Caltrans Sustainable Communities grant. As Sacramento County continues to see increased demand for safe and accessible walking and biking connections to transit, this plan will identify key gaps and recommend improvements to ensure safer, more convenient access to SacRT bus stops and light rail stations.

This effort builds on the foundation of the Bus Stop Improvement Plan (BSIP) and expands it to a broader, countywide scale.

Why This Plan Matters

  • Many SacRT stops and stations currently lack safe, accessible paths of travel.
  • There is no existing countywide Safe Routes to Transit plan.
  • This plan will identify barriers, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Recommendations will support state and regional mode-shift goals and help develop implementation-ready projects.
