This winter break, youth in grades TK through 12 can enjoy free rides with SacRT’s RydeFreeRT program! Whether you’re visiting friends, heading to a holiday event, or exploring the city, the RydeFreeRT fare-free transit program for students/youth is your ticket to holiday fun! 

RydeFreeRT cards with a valid date of June 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025, let students ride buses and light rail for free, all day, any day of the week. 

To ride free, simply show your valid RydeFreeRT card. Youth experiencing homelessness or in foster programs are also welcome to join the program. 

If you don’t yet have a RydeFreeRT card, stop by SacRT’s Customer Service and Sales Center at 1225 R Street (next to the 13th Street Station) or visit a participating Sacramento library. For more info, call 916-321-BUSS (2877). 

Since launching in 2019, RydeFreeRT has given youth the freedom to ride—boosting student ridership to nearly 25% of all SacRT trips this past year! Join the 4.2 million youth who rode in FY 2024 and make the most of free, festive rides this season! 

Note: RydeFreeRT does not apply to individuals over 18 pursuing a GED.
