Celebrate Transit Equity Day and Honor Rosa Parks
Join SacRT as we recognize Transit Equity Day on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, a day dedicated to celebrating the life and legacy of civil rights leader Rosa Parks. Her courageous refusal to give up her seat on a Montgomery bus in 1955 helped spark a movement for social justice and greater fairness in public transportation.
To commemorate her impact, we’ll feature a special “Reserved for Rosa Parks” sign on a designated front seat aboard every bus, a meaningful reminder of her bold stand and the ongoing importance of equity and inclusion in our transit system.
In celebration of this important day, SacRT fixed-route bus service will be fare-free with the Free Ride flyer below. Riders can present the flyer as a screenshot or in print to enjoy fare-free travel on bus on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
