SacRT Announced Blue Line Service Disruptions and Construction Closures Beginning September 23, 2024

The Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) began platform construction at Swanston Station on Monday, September 23, 2024, to modernize the light rail system and transition to the new low-floor light rail vehicles. This project is an essential step toward enhancing accessibility and improving the rider experience on the Blue Line.

Construction Timeline & Service Disruptions:

  • October 6 – October 25, 2024: Swanston Station will be temporarily closed. Please use Marconi/Arcade or Royal Oaks stations for light rail service. All park-and-ride users should use Marconi/Arcade or Globe stations. Trains will pass through the station, but no boarding or deboarding will be possible. 
  • Saturday, October 26 – Sunday, October 27, 2024: 
    Swanston Station will again be completely closed for additional construction work. A bus bridge will be available between Marconi/Arcade and Globe stations.
